Meet the teacher…
Susan Lindemann is a cello and piano teacher in Tampa, Florida. Graduated from the University of South Florida with a Bachelor’s degree in Cello Performance, Susan has taught professionally for three years. Her experience includes working with students both locally and internationally. In 2024, she joined the Collective Chamber Orchestra on a tour to Honduras and offered masterclasses to students in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. Recently, she was invited as principle cellist, soloist and guest faculty member to the 2025 Festival Internacional la Centro in Guatemala City, Guatemala. She currently manages a studio of students throughout the Tampa Bay Area.
Susan focuses on helping her students develop musicality, problem-solving strategies, and healthy cello techniques. She adapts her lessons to each person to ensure that every student feels motivated and inspired. She believes that anyone can learn the cello if they are willing to invest energy into the instrument. This can mean practicing as little as 5-30 minutes per day, depending on the goals of the individual.
Building healthy cello technique is a core part of Susan’s lessons. The cello is an instrument that can be adapted to the natural contours and movements of the human body. On the other hand, improper technique can lead to tension, and even injury in extreme cases. With new students, Susan works to help them establish good habits from day one!

FAQs
Do you offer online lessons?
Yes! I offer both online and in-person lessons. I am currently based in Tampa, Florida, and work with students throughout the Tampa Bay Area. I am available to teach lessons online for students located in different regions.
How often do you recommend having lessons?
I recommend having weekly lessons for students over the age of 10! Meeting once a week is a great way to maintain focus on the various techniques we will work on. For younger students, I recommend 1-2 lessons per week.
What instruments do you teach?
The cello is my primary instrument, and the instrument that I teach the most. I can also teach beginner to intermediate level piano, which is a great skill for cellists to develop as well!
How long are lessons?
I find that an hour is best for students over the age of 10. For younger students, it depends! I find that some young players can stay very focused when they are excited about the instrument, but others need shorter lessons to stay on track!
